NY SAFE INC. · PERSONAL PROTECTION SEMINAR
Should I Carry a Gun in New York?
A thoughtful starting point for a serious personal decision.
Before you invest in a firearm or begin the licensing process, consider what carrying would mean for your household, your daily routine, and your willingness to train. This seminar helps you work through that decision.

What you will work through
The seminar follows six steps, beginning with everyday safety and ending with your own decision and a written plan. Firearm ownership is one option within that larger discussion.
- Mindset and awareness. Examine habits for noticing your surroundings, avoiding conflict, and recognizing opportunities to leave.
- Your actual risks. Think through your home and daily routine, then identify safety improvements worth your time and money.
- Your protection options. Explore approaches such as avoidance, home security, personal alarms, and defensive tools, including the legal questions those tools raise.
- The firearm decision. Consider secure storage, ongoing practice, personal judgment, and the financial and emotional responsibilities involved.
- New York use-of-force law. Discuss Article 35, the questions surrounding justified force, and the potential aftermath of a defensive incident.
- Licensing and your plan. Get an introduction to New York licensing and training, then identify the questions and next steps relevant to your circumstances.
The practical takeaway: a written starting plan for your personal protection decisions, whether you pursue firearms training or choose another approach.
